The U.S. Department of Education is offering an incentive of up to $25,000 to the majority of its staff to resign or retire by Monday evening ahead of rumored work force reductions.

In a department-wide email obtained and first reported by Politico, Education Department employees were offered the one-time buyout and given an 11:59 p.m. deadline on Monday to accept or decline the deal.

“We can confirm that the Education Department emailed its staff today, offering employees up to a $25,000 Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) starting today,” a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Education shared in a statement with Fox News Digital.

“This is a one-time offer in advance of a very significant Reduction in Force for the US Department of Education,” Jacqueline Clay, a chief human capital officer, said in the email.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Sunday expressed his “deep concern” about the Texas measles outbreak and cautioned that parents should consult with health-care providers “to understand their options to get the MMR vaccine” for their children.

Kennedy outlined in an opinion piece on Fox News the outbreak represents a “call to action for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to public health.”

He called for a considered response on vaccines and their availability from all concerned based solely on science:

As healthcare providers, community leaders, and policymakers, we have a shared responsibility to protect public health. This includes ensuring that accurate information about vaccine safety and efficacy is disseminated. We must engage with communities to understand their concerns, provide culturally competent education, and make vaccines readily accessible for all those who want…

Why do evangelical Christians have so little power in our society?

According to some surveys, evangelical Christians compose roughly 25% of the U.S. population, and though we are known for our tendency to vote for conservative political candidates, we have little power outside our political preferences.

Smaller groups, by contrast, have much greater power in proportion to their numbers. A Gallup survey estimates that 7.6% of adults identify as LGBTQ, yet despite their numbers, they wield extraordinary power in our society. All major U.S. industries — from tech to business to entertainment to education to government — are dominated by radical feminists, pro-abortionists, LGBTQ activists, and godless secularists.

If evangelical Christians represent a quarter of our population, then where are the prominent evangelical entrepreneurs, up-and-coming business leaders, CEOs, innovators, and tech pioneers? They’ve got to be out…

Like many parents this time of year, my wife and I have begun to look at colleges with our son (there’s a really good book about this). But a lot has changed since we both graduated—for instance, tuition. Take our alma mater, Georgetown University, which cost $23,000 a year in the 1990s. Annual tuition has skyrocketed to $71,000. Georgetown Law is even higher, at close to $76,000 per year. And you don’t even get good professors like Ilya Shapiro!

The good news is Shapiro has chronicled his experiences and the dismal state of our law schools in his new book, Lawless: The Miseducation of America’s Elites. Weekend Beacon contributor Tal Fortgang gives us a review.

“Shapiro had been hired to run a center-right outfit from within Georgetown Law, but sent a questionably worded tweet that his new employer met with a sham investigation and character assassination. (You can read plenty of good coverage of the affair here at…

If you thought law students hijacking classes for inane exercises in “naming the violence” was bad, just wait. While my law school experience did not involve scandals of national interest, it was punctuated by students attempting to do anything—lecture, agitate, yell—except learn from others.

Here’s one story I’ll never forget, from the same criminal law class where my classmates pestered their uber-progressive professor to say she thought rape was wrong. We were studying the 1971 revolt at Attica state prison in New York, which left 10 prison workers and 33 inmates dead. Prosecutors subsequently chose not to press charges against corrections officers who had allegedly brutalized and possibly murdered some of the rioters. The episode gave a panorama view of the issues we cover in criminal law, such as theories of punishment, prosecutorial discretion, and self-defense.

Who needs to ask difficult questions, though, when you…

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) will not go gently into the night. The DEI apparatchiks within private corporations are untouched by Trump’s executive orders — and because the corrosive ideology is cloaked by so many misleading terms, the U.S. government will continue to pour taxpayer monies into DEI brainwashing.
But just as in the Pentagon schools, Florida’s “Resiliency Education” is simply DEI indoctrination by another name.
The Pentagon’s school system, for example, is trying to outmaneuver Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth by renaming DEI. “Resilience [emphasis added] is the name of the game in terms of how we can talk about what we used to say,” communications director Will Griffin can be heard saying in leaked DoD audio.
DEI adherents have indeed co-opted the word “resilience,” but Trump officials were not the original target.
The sleight of hand began more than a decade ago in the Alpine resort town…

MSNBC just canceled “The ReidOut,” the most vicious, nasty, anti-white and pathologically anti-Trump show on air. Host Joy Reid, for five years, unleashed one hateful, often irrational attack after another.

It was only after President Donald Trump’s reelection and her ratings plummeting nearly 50% that MSNBC pulled the plug.

Here are just some of her greatest hits:

“(The courts) are stacked now to essentially suborn our democracy to their very particular version of right-wing evangelical Christ … That’s no different than Talibanism.”

“The goal of the Republican Party today, is it to seize control of every level of government, to lock out voices of color and LGBTQ voices except those who conform to their demand that history and education uplift white Christian dominion …”

“Fascism isn’t a game, y’all. It’s real. And it’s in America, sometimes dressed as a kooky personality cult or carrying a…

Some universities have multi-billion-dollar endowments. Should they be taxed? I am no tax expert, but I have long been concerned that the case for taxing endowments looks a bit like the case for taxing wealth generally. Yet some conservatives support the former while opposing the latter.

In 2017, as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Congress imposed a 1.4 percent tax on the net investment income of large, well-endowed universities. The question now is whether it should be expanded.

My colleague Erik Jensen knows far more about tax law than I do, and he had a piece this week in Civitas Outlook suggesting why taxes on university endowments is not such a great idea. Not only does the tax raise minimal revenue, it induces universities to waste more money on accountants and administrators to account for and avoid the tax (and its “cliff effect”), and its costs are not ultimately borne by universities as institutions.

In form,…

The arrest of an illegal migrant who was dropping students at school in Chicago earlier this week sparked local fury and a rally, but Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have since revealed the suspect is a violent gang member with a long rap sheet.

Francisco Andrade-Berrera, 37, a Mexican citizen, was picked by ICE on Wednesday near a Southside Chicago school, leading to activists and local leaders holding a rally condemning the move. Video obtained by Fox News shows two agents handcuffing Andrade-Berrera near the school.

In response to the arrest, two nearby schools activated “Community Wellness Protocols” and notified parents that additional social work support would be available to help students cope with the “stressful and upsetting” nature of the event.
